Two CRAFS Interns, Florence and Agatha, Delight in Attending Training Handling R
October 09 2024
From the 25th to the 29th of October 2024, Mr Zito Antonio, a Centre for Resilient Agri-food Systems (CRAFS) sponsored PhD student, travelled to Lichinga, Mozambique, accompanied by his co-supervisor, Dr. Placid Mpeketula. The co-supervisor and supervisee travelled to set up an experimental field and collect soil samples in the same field.
In addition to setting up the experimental field, the two also had an opportunity to visit Instituto de Investigacao Agraria de Mocambique (Agricultural Research Institute of Mozambique) – Centro Zonal Noroeste, a Rovuma University research partner, which has a working relationship with CRAFS and the University of Malawi.
Regular and scheduled visits will be undertaken since the exercise is seasonal and time-sensitive. Dr Mpeketula and Mr Antonio will adhere to the fieldwork schedule to ensure the experiment covers all critical seasonal periods, such as the growing season. The next activity at the Mozambique and Malawi sites is planting soybeans, cowpeas, and common beans, set for mid-December 2024.
Below are some of the pictures illustrating the visit.
