Master of Science in Applied Chemistry

This programme offers a specialised MSc degree in a field that underpins the application of chemistry and chemical applications. The programme has a duration of 2 years.

Admission Requirements

Students are admitted into the programme if they hold a strong (high) pass Bachelor’s level degree in Chemistry or a field related to the chemical sciences obtained from accredited institutions of higher learning. The strong (high) pass is judged using the University of Malawi’s undergraduate qualification framework.

Program Structure

The focus of the course is the research project but there will be training opportunities though out the program. Each student is supervised by two or more members. In the end of first semester students will submit a written proposal and present it. Research proceeds with reporting of progress and the thesis will be submitted within two years of thier enrollment on the programme. The degree is examined by thesis and oral examination by three examiners. In addition to their research work, students will be required to attend and participate in other activities such as attending seminars, offer tutorials to BSC students etc.
